BEYOND THE PRICE TAG
Compare the total cost of an appliance in Ireland
A cheaper appliance can become the more expensive order once delivery and fitting are included. Compare the exact model and the same services before deciding which offer saves money.

Published policy information, not a checkout quote or reservation. Confirm current eligibility, availability and the final total before paying. Policy review dates do not refresh the dates on offers.
Make sure it is the same appliance
Copy the full manufacturer model number rather than searching only for a range name. Match the suffix, capacity, condition and included accessories. Record whether the item is new, refurbished or display stock. For a bundle, list each component so a cheaper package does not hide a missing accessory.
Check stock and delivery availability for your address. A low price for an unavailable model is not a usable alternative, and a price-match policy can require both shops to have stock.
Your comparison worksheet
- Item: model number, condition, price and any eligible discount.
- Delivery: the quote for your address and the correct size of appliance, including any access surcharge.
- Installation: the fitting service you need and whether the quoted service covers your existing connections.
- Old appliance: collection conditions and any separate disconnection work you need to arrange.
- Timing: actual stock, available dates and whether multiple items arrive together.
A worked example: €20 cheaper can cost €30 more
These are invented quotes to demonstrate the calculation, not current offers. Suppose Shop A charges €399 for a washing machine, €30 delivery and €50 fitting. The installed total is €479. Shop B charges €419 plus €30 for delivery and the same fitting service together: €449. Shop B’s item costs €20 more, but the complete order is €30 less.
If you can safely arrange fitting separately, substitute that quote in both comparisons. Do not compare a delivery-only order with an installed order unless you account for the missing work.
Use price matching as a separate option
Save the model code and the competitor’s product page while the quoted item is available. Read the eligible-competitor list and stock conditions. Ask for the resulting complete quote before choosing between a match and another promotion. The Currys policy linked above illustrates why an item-price match alone does not settle the delivered-cost comparison.
Check access before you order
Measure the intended space and the route through doors and stairs. Explain any difficult access before booking delivery. Confirm who will disconnect the old appliance, what the installer expects to find and when the old appliance must be ready. These details help you compare equivalent services and avoid an unusable delivery slot.
How we made this comparison
We reviewed the linked official delivery, collection and price-match policies for five retailers in our electronics directory. This is not an exhaustive market comparison or a claim that any retailer is always cheapest. We have not obtained address-specific quotes or checked out a named appliance. Charges and availability should be confirmed in the basket or in a written quote.
